Lawal blames PDP crisis for defection

Governor of Zamfara State Dauda Lawal, has cited the ongoing legal dispute and crisis within the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) as the primary reason for his defection to the All Progressives Congress (APC).

The governor’s spokesman, Sulaiman Bala Idris, described the defection as a necessary step for the greater good.

Also, Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Abubakar Nakwada, explained that the governor’s decision was a product of diligent thinking, saying that since January 2026, a committee had been constituted to look into the issue.

Furthermore, the Senior Special Assistant SSA, on Media, Suleiman Tudu, said that the main reason was the irreconcilable internal wrangling in the PDP amid failed attempts by the governor to sanitize the party.
