The Senator representing Anambra Central, Victor Umeh, has commended the Nigerian Democratic Congress (NDC) for zoning its 2027 presidential ticket to the South.
Umeh spoke during a television interview on Sunday evening saying the decision which was taken at the party’s convention on Saturday, reflects a political sensitivity to Nigeria’s power-sharing arrangement between the North and South.
He described the move as a strategic step toward preserving national unity, also said that delegates at the convention overwhelmingly supported the motion.
Umeh also spoke on the reported presidential ambition of Peter Obi under the NDC platform, and expressed confidence that he would honour the promise of serving for only one tenure if elected.
