A United States judge, Allison Burroughs, has overturned the funding cuts placed on Harvard University by the Trump administration.
Recall that the Trump administration in the United States had imposed the funding cuts following accusations of anti-Semitism and bias at Harvard. They claimed that Harvard failed to protect Jewish and Israeli students during campus protests against Israel’s war in Gaza.
Earlier in April, Harvard went to court to challenge the decision after more than two billion dollars in funds were frozen. Judge Burroughs has now ruled in Harvard’s favour, saying cutting funds would not address the issue of anti-Semitism on campus.
She further suggested that the US President, Donald Trump was using the anti-Semitism claims as a cover for a politically motivated attack on America’s leading universities.
