The UN Palestinian refugee agency, United Nations Relief and Works Agency, UNRWA, has said an Israeli attack on one of its shelters has led to the highest death toll among its staff in a single incident.
The Hamas civil defense agency reported that an Israeli airstrike on a central Gaza school being used as a shelter for displaced Palestinians has killed 18 people, and the UNRWA says its staff was among
The UN agency said this on X, saying the manager of the shelter and other team members providing assistance to displaced people were among those killed.
UN secretary-general António Guterres also confirmed this late on Wednesday saying six UNRWA colleagues were killed as he called for an end to the Israeli strikes.
