Umahi raises concerns over misuse of roads, packing of tanks, other heavy-duty vehicles

Minister of Works, Engr. David Umahi, has raised serious concern over the damaging practice of parking fuel tankers and other heavy-duty vehicles on the newly constructed roads, warning that such actions pose a direct threat to the durability and lifespan of critical national infrastructure.

The Minister made this known during an inspection of the Aleto Bridge project, Rivers State at the weekend.

This was contained in a statement issued on Monday by his Senior Special Assistant on media, Francis Nwaze and made available to journalists in Abakaliki.

He emphasized that no road infrastructure is designed to withstand prolonged static loading from heavy vehicles.
