The Turkish police have arrested more than 200 suspected members of the Islamic State group and outlawed far-left organisations, ahead of next month’s North Atlantic Treaty Organization, NATO, summit.
Officials made this known this Tuesday, saying 209 suspects were detained in the capital, Ankara, while 32 others were yet to be captured.
Authorities say 185 of those arrested are suspected members of several far-left groups designated as terrorist organisations by the government.
The arrests are part of wider security measures ahead of the NATO summit scheduled to hold on July 7 and 8 in Ankara.
