Trabzonspor player, Chibuike Nwaiwu, has been called up to replace the injured Calvin Bassey in the Super Eagles squad for the international friendlies against Jordan and Iran in Turkey.
Nwaiwu’s inclusion was announced on Thursday, following Bassey’s withdrawal on Wednesday.
Nwaiwu, who has previously featured for Nigeria Premier Football League champions Enyimba, can also play as a centre-back, making him a fit to replace the Fulham defender.
Nigeria is set to face Iran this Friday, before taking on Jordan o Tuesday, 31 March, with kick-off set for 8:00 pm. Both fixtures were moved to Turkey due to security concerns and ongoing tensions in parts of the Middle East, which made the originally planned venue in Amman unsuitable.
