The Vice President, Kashim Shettima, has assured the Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ, that the administration of President Bola Tinubu remained an ally of the media, and was committed to protecting and advancing the journalism profession in the country.
Shettima gave the assurance when he hosted a delegation of the NUJ leadership at the Presidential Villa, Abuja, on Wednesday.
However, he noted that the government and citizens alike expects a lot from the media, emphasising that the journalism profession stood almost at par with the judiciary.
Shettima also said that authorities couldn’t afford to intimidate journalists, saying that they are indispensable to the survival of democracy in the country.
