TikTok has restored service in the United States (US) after briefly shutting down, as a result of the law banning it.

TikTok restored the service on Sunday, thanking President-elect Donald Trump, who assumes office this Monday, for making the reversal possible.

TikTok app had shut down in the United States on Saturday as a deadline for its Chinese owners ByteDance to sell its US subsidiary to non-Chinese buyers loomed.

However, Trump promised to issue an executive order delaying the ban to allow time to make a deal, saying he would like the United States to have a 50% ownership position in a joint venture because he thinks that the app’s value could surge to hundreds of billions of dollars — maybe trillions.

Trump says doing this will save TikTok and keep it in good hands.
