Taraba Police arrest suspect for alleged impersonation, fraud

The Taraba state police command has arrested a suspect for allegedly impersonating one of aides to the governor of Taraba State and defrauding members of the public.

The spokesperson of the command, Victor Mshelizah, said the arrest followed a complaint received by the aide to the governor concerning individuals allegedly using his name and office to deceive unsuspecting politicians and residents of the state.

Mshelizah said an investigation was launched immediately which led to the arrest of the suspect, identified as Seth Sule, of Jalingo local government council of Taraba state, who confessed to defrauding a victim of N1.32 million under the guise of assisting the individual to secure the All Progressives Congress Federal House of Representatives ticket.

He further said that investigations are ongoing and that the suspect would be charged to court upon completion of the inquiry.

Mshelizah also warned members of the public to remain vigilant against individuals posing as government officials or associates of public office holders and to verify political claims and sensitive transactions through official channels before making payments or commitments.
