The Ogun State Police Command says it’s Special Weapons and Tactics Unit rescued a man posing as a soldier from being killed by a mob in the Olomore area of Abeokuta, the state capital.

The command’s spokesperson, Omolola Odutola, announced this Tuesday that by the rescue, operatives of the rapid response of Special Weapons and Tactics, SWAT, prevented a likely fatal mob action.

She also said the 31-year-old suspect, Robinson Godday, had allegedly snatched two mobile phones from a young man in the area.

Odutola further said that the suspect admitted that he was not a military officer, also saying that he stole the military uniform from a soldier serving at the Ojo Military Barracks in Lagos, who is currently deployed on operations in the North-East.
