President of the Nigerian Bar Association, Afam Osigwe, has expressed worry over the deteriorating security situation in the South-East.
Osigwe WHO SPOKE TO newsmen in Enugu on tuesdy,condemned the developments, saying that they have led to the breakdown in law and order in the region.
He also condemned the practice of some magistrates, granting remand orders, leading to prolonged and unjust detentions.
He said that over 68 per cent of prison inmates in the country are awaiting trial, saying that many have spent more time in detention than they would have, if convicted.
