Singapore Hangs third Drug Trafficker in one week

The Narcotics Enforcement agency in Singapore has hanged a 55-year-old man for drug trafficking.

Singapore’s Central Narcotics Bureau (CNB) told newsmen that Rosman Abdullah was hanged this Friday after being convicted of trafficking 57.43 grams of heroin.

Abdullah’s hanging comes after  a 39-year-old Malaysian and a 53-year-old Singaporean were executed on November 15 2024 for drug trafficking.

Under Singapore’s drug laws, the punishment for trafficking drugs above 15 grams is a death penalty.

The United Nations and other rights groups have called for an end to the capital punishment, saying it has not been proven to deter people. However, Singaporean officials insist it has helped make the country one of Asia’s safest countries.
