Singapore Dissolves Parliament ahead of Elections

Ahead of an upcoming national election in Singapore, the country’s parliament has been dissolved.

The government of Singapore says its President, Tharman Shanmugaratnam, dissolved the Parliament this Tuesday on the advice of the country’s Prime Minister, Lawrence Wong.

The Singaporean government also says the nomination day has been set for April 23, while the Elections Department says the election will be held on the 3rd of May.

Reports say a total of 97 seats are at stake in this election, which is four seats higher than the previous parliament.
