The National Executive Committee of the Social Democratic Party, SDP, led by Wole Adesina, has condemned the influx of aggrieved politicians into its party who want to unseat President Bola Tinubu in 2027, saying they do not have any clear-cut alternative vision for Nigeria’s transformation.
The National Publicity Secretary of Adesina’s faction of the SDP, Alfa Mohammed, said this this Monday, lamenting that their party is not for sale or lease to any group, and will not be part of any anti-government plots or coalition that lacks a clear alternative agenda for Nigeria’s transformation.
The group said it will continue to work with the federal government in a helpful but critical way. However, it made it clear that it does not support any alliance trying to bring down the current government or question the results of the 2023 elections.
They also asked SDP leaders around the country to protect their positions and report anyone trying to take over. The group encouraged members and supporters to stay calm, saying they are still working to fully regain recognition from INEC.
