The Pope of the Catholic Church, Pope Francis, has died
The Vatican announced his death early this Monday via X, saying Pope Francis died in his residence, at the age of 88,
Recall that the late pope Francis was elected on March 13, 2013, and became the first Latin American leader of the Roman Catholic Church.
Some world leaders have reacted to news of his death, including the Vice-President of the United States, JD Vance, Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, President of France, Emmanuel Macron, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Germany’s Chancellor-In-Waiting Friedrich Merz, and President of Israel, Isaac Herzog.
They all described the Pope as a great Christian leader who exemplified the tenets of Christianity as they also condoled with catholic faithful worldwide who are mourning the death of the pope.
