The Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, has said that 45,000 officers will be deployed across Anambra State in preparation for the governorship election, slated for November 8, 2025.

The Inspector General, represented by a Commissioner of Police, Abayomi Shogunle, said this during the meeting of the Inter-Agency Consultative Committee on Election Security held on Tuesday at the Independent National Electoral Commission(INEC) Headquarters in Abuja.

The meeting, which was chaired by the Chairman of INEC, Joash Amupitan, and co-chaired by the National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu, brought together senior security, intelligence, and law enforcement officials to finalise strategies for an incident-free election.

It was also emphasised that vigilante groups and all other agencies of the states would not be allowed to have any role to play, as only federal security agencies would be involved in the election.
