The People’s Democratic Party (PDP) and a former education minister, Oby Ezekwesili, have endorsed the Independent National Electoral Commission’s (INEC)rejection of the recall petition against the Kogi Central lawmaker, Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan.
The INEC National Commissioner and Chairman of the Information and Voter Education Committee, Sam Olumekun, says that INEC had completed a thorough review of the signatures and thumbprints submitted in support of the petition.
INEC told newsmen on Thursday that the recall petition failed and the exercise would not proceed, citing the need for signatures from more than half of the registered voters in the Senator’s constituency.
INEC concluded that the petition did not meet the constitutional requirements and would not proceed with the recall process.
