The Police Command in Oyo State has reacted to a video currently circulating on social media, showing the arrest of some suspected Boko Haram members who attempted to invade the state.
The command’s spokesman, Adewale Osifeso, who spoke to newsmen this Tuesday in the state capital, Ibadan, says the video is a recycled video from 2022.
To further prove that the video is an old one, Osifeso says the Divisional Crime Officer at the Ilero Divisional Police Headquarters, Segun Adeyemo, who appeared briefly in the video, retired from the Nigeria Police Force in August 2024.
Osifeso says the re-emergence of the video is a deliberate attempt by certain individuals with malicious intent, seeking to spread falsehoods and incite fear and unrest.
He also urged the public to avoid circulating outdated video content pertaining to issues that have been resolved as he also encouraged the public to thoroughly verify any information before sharing on social media.
