The Abia State Governor, Alex Otti, has commended Wednesday’s Federal High Court ruling directing the Independent National Electoral Commission to recognise the Senator Nenadi Usman-led caretaker committee, saying it would restore order, peace and unity in the Labour Party.
Otti said this to newsmen this Friday while congratulating the National Caretaker Committee of the Party led by Usman as chairman and Senator Darlington Nwokocha as secretary, as well as members of the committee and the entire party.
He has now urged the party leadership to see the victory as an opportunity to reshape the party and ensure purposeful and inclusive leadership committed to peace, unity and justice, in line with the constitution and ideals of the party.
He has also called on those responsible for what he described as “frivolous litigations” against the party to respect the judgment of the Federal High Court, which he said aligned with an earlier ruling of the Supreme Court, while thanking the court for what he called a “sound judgment” and appreciated lovers of democracy for standing by the party during its trying times, assuring them of his continued commitment to playing positive roles that would deepen democracy and ensure peace and order in the country.
In addition, the Abia State Chairman of the Labour Party, Emmanuel Otti, also expressed excitement over the judgment, saying the judiciary has restored the trust people have in it.
