Odutan Recommends Splitting Of TCN As Solution To Grid Collapse

The managing director and Chief executive officer of the Association of Nigeria electricity distributors (ANED), Sunday Oduntan, has blamed the incessant collapse of the national electricity grid on lack of maintenance and dis-pro-por-tionate power generation.

Oduntan said this to newsmen this Wednesday saying there is need for a review of the national grid’s stability and technical needs and that power should be generated in accordance with the growing population of Nigerians.

He also says the Transmission Company of Nigeria, TCN, has to be split to allow for regional grid and regional electricity management which should then be handled by independent system operators.

Meanwhile, the Chairman of the Enugu Electricity Regulatory Commission, EERC, Chijioke Okonkwo, says that driving investment to the electricity sector, creating an enabling environment and allowing market forces drive efficiency, will improve the electricity situation of the country.
