The legal adviser of the Labour Party (LP), Kehinde Edun, has said the party’s presidential candidate in the 2023 elections, Peter Obi, is still with the camp of the chairman of the party, Julius Abure.
Recall that Obi was at the meeting convened by the Governor of Abia State, Alex Otti, in September 2024 where former Minister of Finance, Nenadi Usman, was appointed to lead the party until new leadership is elected to replace Abure.
However, the High Court and the Court of Appeal subsequently ruled that Abure remains the chairman of the party and this caused speculations that Obi might have withdrawn from being a supporter of Abure’s leadership.
But Edun clarified on Wednesday, saying that Obi still relates regularly with the leadership of the party led by Abure and has not at any time stated that he is leaving the party.
