Former Anambra state governor, Peter Obi, has criticized the federal government for the continued detention of the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, Nnamdi Kanu.

Obi says it does not make sense that Kanu is being held just for insulting or speaking against those in government.

Obi said this in a television interview saying if he were the president he would be advocating for a political solution, not just in the Nnamdi Kanu case, but other similar cases across the country.

Furthermore, Obi urged President Bola Tinubu to show more compassion to Nigerians saying the office of the Nigerian president requires sacrifice and compassion, not detachment, luxury, or fear.

He accused the Tinubu administration for being disconnected from the suffering of ordinary Nigerians saying his time in office as Anambra State governor was marked by modest living and responsible governance.
