Nigeria has been ranked as the seventh leading source of international students in the United States globally and the first in Africa.
The United States Embassy said this to newsmen this Tuesday, saying the rankings were made in a 2024 Open Doors Report on International Education Exchange.
The report says 20,029 Nigerian students enrolled in US colleges and universities for the 2023/2024 academic year, marking a 13.5 per cent increase from the previous year.
The report also says that US institutions now host one million, one hundred and twenty-six thousand, six hundred and ninety international students, which is the highest in history.
The US embassy says the steady growth in Nigerian student enrollment reflects the high demand for US education and the strong ties between Nigeria and the United States.
