The Nigeria Police Force has dismissed a viral video circulating on social media that shows uniformed personnel in camouflage allegedly scooping fuel from the wreckage of a tanker accident.
The Force Public Relations Officer, Olumuyiwa Adejobi, dismissed this in a post on his X handle this Monday.
Adejobi clarified that the individuals in the video are not officers of the Nigeria Police Force, saying they are uniformed personnel from a neighboring francophone country whose camouflage uniforms closely resemble those of the Nigerian police.
He says the officers in the video were speaking in French rather than any Nigerian language or English.
Adejobi says the police strongly condemns the spread of such disinformation and unverified content aimed at tarnishing the image of the Nigeria Police Force.
