The Secretary of the Nigerian Broadcasting Commission (NBC), Gloria Makinde, has urged candidates in the upcoming bye-elections and governorship election in Anambra State to focus on sharing their manifestos, conduct themselves with decorum, and refrain from using hate speech during media engagements.
Makinde said this on Wednesday while speaking on behalf of the director general of the NBC, Charles Ebuebu, during a one day sensitisation workshop on political broadcast, which took place in Awka, Anamba state.
The Anambra state commissioner for Information, Law Mefor, who represented the governor of the state, Chukwuma Soludo, also encouraged members of the media to use their various airwaves to promote unity and ensure the integrity of the elections.
In addition, the Anambra state resident electoral commissioner, Elizabeth Agwu, promised to ensure that the upcoming elections are free and fair and no candidate will be given any preferential treatment.
Also present at the event were the NBC Zonal director, Ijeoma Theo-Obodo; the Anambra state NBC officer, Nkechi Nnamdi; The NBC director of investigation and enforcement, Pauline Ehusani; as well as station managers, program managers, and political show presenters within the state.
