The National Agency for Food and Drugs Administration and Control has alerted Nigeria to the sale of a fake soap labeled as “Dettol Health Fresh Soap” in the market.
NAFDAC issued the warning on its website this Thursday, saying the manufacturer of Dettol Antiseptic products has confirmed that the soap is fake, as the company does not have any product by the name “Dettol Health Fresh Soap.”
The agency says a complaint was made by a consumer to the Marketing Authorisation Holder and manufacturer of Dettol Antiseptic products who said the fake product caused skin irritation.
NAFDAC says it has directed zonal directors and state coordinators to carry out surveillance and mop up the fake product if found within the zones and states.
It also advised Importers, distributors, retailers, healthcare professionals, caregivers, and consumers to exercise caution and vigilance within the supply chain to avoid the importation, distribution, sale, and use of the fake product.
