The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control, NAFDAC, has destroyed banned substandard and unwholesome drugs and pharmaceutical products worth over N55bn in Ibadan, Oyo State.
The Director-General of the agency, Mojisola Adeyeye, announced the exercise, which took place at a dumpsite in Moniya, Akinyele Local Government Area.
Adeyeye said the products destroyed were voluntarily handed over by more than 70 compliant companies, non-governmental organisations, and trade unions to the agency.
She appealed to leaders, health practitioners and all Nigerians to educate their families about the dangers of patronising unauthorised medicine and food dealers.
