The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) has destroyed dangerous drugs confiscated in Anambra and Abia states.
The drugs worth over N1trillion were destroyed at the Anambra State Waste Management Agency (ASWAMA) dump-site in Awka, Awka South Local Council of Anambra State.
Director General of the agency, Mojisola Adeyeye, SAID that the drugs were mopped up from Aba and Onitsha drug markets.
Adeyeye says that the exercise is in line with the agency’s mandate of eradicating fake and counterfeit regulated products and to stop them from circulating in the country.
She assured that the agency will continue to strengthen regulatory frameworks and enhance surveillance.
