The Movement for the Emancipation of Niger Delta, MEND, has condemned the persistent feud between the governor of Rivers State, Siminialayi Fubara, and his predecessor, the Minister of Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike.
MEND Spokesperson, Jomo Gbomo, said this in Port Harcourt this Friday, saying elders and traditional institutions in the region should genuinely intervene in the lingering political crises in that state.
Gbomo also condemned the recent threat by some ex-militants and agitators to attack crude oil facilities in the Niger Delta region, saying MEND will not support violence associated with political disputes between Wike and Fubara.
He says MEND will not be forced to attack any oil installation in the Niger Delta region, saying the group is ready to support security operatives in safeguarding crude oil installations from attacks in the interest of the nation.
