The Director of Public Affairs and Enlightenment at LASTMA, Adebayo Taofiq, made this known to newsmen saying the enforcement exercise was conducted after repeated warnings.
Taofiq also said the enforcement was carried out because of the escalating risks posed by overloaded vehicles on major roads and densely trafficked inner-city routes.
Furthermore, LASTMA’s General Manager, Olalekan Bakare-Oki, said overloading “constitutes a serious contravention of the State’s traffic laws and poses grave dangers not only to the occupants of the vehicles but also to other road users.
He cautioned motorists to adhere strictly to stipulated loading capacities, maintain unobstructed visibility at all times, and prioritise roadworthiness and safety in their daily operations.
