Lagos to Shut Eko Bridge for 8 weeks

The Lagos State Government has announced plans to shut and divert traffic on Eko Bridge to facilitate emergency repairs by the Federal Ministry of Works.

The Lagos State Commissioner for Transportation, Oluwaseun Osiyemi, said this to newsmen this Friday, saying the exercise is scheduled to commence from Monday, September 16th 2024, and will last for 8 weeks.

He says the repairs will be carried out in four phases, during which the bridge will be fully or partially closed, depending on the work schedule.

Osiyemi says the Eko Bridge will reopen in the second week of November, saying alternative routes have been made available to motorists to be used throughout the period of the repairs
