Lagos Police Deny Report of Officer Arrested for Assault

The Lagos State Police Command has debunked claims that one of its officers was arrested for assaulting a personnel of the Federal Road Safety Corps, FRSC, in the Lekki area of the state.

Reports say on the 9th of December, the FRSC ordered a thorough investigation into a case of aggression against an FRSC officer on November 7, 2024, along the Lekki-Epe Expressway in Lagos and some quarter alleged that it was a female police officer that assaulted the FRSC officer

The command spokesperson, Benjamin Hundeyin, denied the allegation this Thursday in Lagos, saying the woman arrested, Monalisa Osayi, is not a police officer.

Hundeyin says if the suspect was a police officer, internal disciplinary processes would have first been activated, resulting in her suspension or dismissal, before she could be arraigned in court but instead she was arrested and prosecuted by the Ajah Division of the Lagos State Police Command for the assault.

He urged the public to disregard the false claims, while assuring members of the public of a robust synergy with other sister agencies which he says remains of paramount importance in the security architecture of Lagos State.
