The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) says 19 persons have been killed including 5 children, in an auto crash which occurred on Sunday along Lokoja-Obajana road.
The Kogi State Sector Commander of the corps, Kumar Tsukwam, confirmed this to newsmen in Lokoja this Monday, saying eight others who survived the crash sustained bruises, cuts, dislocations, fractures, and fire burns.
Tsukwam says the fatal accident which occurred on Sunday, at Gadabiu community, involved an articulated vehicle and a Toyota Hummer Bus heading to Abuja from the South.
He said it was a head-on collision when the bus, on high speed, tried to overtake an articulated vehicle only to face an oncoming articulated vehicle with no option.
The commander said that the highways are not race roads and appealed to motorists to avoid over-speeding and wrongful overtaking.
