The Palestine Red Crescent Society (PRCS) says it has responded to 27 fatalities and 54 injuries after an Israeli military struck a shelter in Deir al-Balah.

The Israeli military said it carried out an airstrike this Thursday, on a former school in Gaza that was sheltering displaced people but it was targeting militants who were operating in the compound

They say prior to the strike, numerous steps were taken to mitigate the risk of harming civilians, including the use of precise munitions, aerial surveillance, and additional intelligence,” the military said.

However, Palestinian medical officials said the strike has killed at least 21 people with the toll likely to rise.

Also, the Gaza health ministry released a statement this Thursday saying more than 42,065 Palestinians have been killed and 97,886 injured in Israel’s military offensive on Gaza since 7 October 2023, also saying that the ministry does not not distinguish between militant and civilian deaths.
