Iraq’s top Shiite cleric Ali Sistani has warned against targeting Iran’s leadership saying it could have “dire consequences on the region” and exacerbate the suffering of the people.
Sistani said this this Thursday as he urged the international community to “make every effort to end the war between Israel and Iran and find a peaceful solution to Iran’s nuclear programme.
Recall that earlier this week, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu did not rule out plans to assassinate Iran’s leader Khamenei, saying it would “end the conflict”.
However, United States President Donald Trump said his country would not kill Khamenei “for now”, but demanded for Iran’s “unconditional surrender”.
