Israel Denies Allegations from Human Rights Watch of Damaging Water Infrastructure

Israel has dismissed reports from an international human rights organization, Human Rights Watch, accusing it of committing “acts of genocide” in the Gaza Strip by damaging water infrastructure and cutting off supplies to civilians.

Human Rights Watch released a report accusing Israeli authorities of deliberately depriving the people of Gaza of water, which they say has “likely caused thousands of deaths and will likely continue to cause deaths.”

The HRW report detailed what the group said was the intentional damage to water and sanitation infrastructure, including solar panels powering treatment plants, a reservoir and a spare parts warehouse, as well as the blocking of fuel for generators.

However, Israel’s Foreign Ministry says the report is full of lies, insisting that since the beginning of the war, Israel has facilitated the continuous flow of water and humanitarian aid into Gaza, despite operating under constant attacks from the Hamas terror group

Israel’s foreign ministry also says it has ensured water infrastructure, including the continued operation of four water pipelines and water pumping and desalination facilities, which have remained operational.
