Israel Claims Responsibility for Pager, Walkie-Talkie Explosions

Israel has claimed responsibility for the pager and walkie-talkie explosions that occurred in Lebanon and Syria 2 months ago.

The spokesperson for the office of Israeli prime-minister, Omer Dostri, confirmed Israeli responsibility this Monday, saying prime-minister Benjamin Netanyahu approved the pager and walkie-talkie explosion attacks inside Lebanon and Syria.

Israeli media says Netanyahu claimed responsibility for the attack during a cabinet meeting, telling ministers that senior defence officials and political figures were opposed to the detonation of the pagers, but that he went ahead with the operation that was intended to target Hezbollah operatives.

Recall that on 17 September thousands of pagers simultaneously exploded, killing dozens and injuring thousands of people. Also, the following day, walkie-talkies exploded and in total, 39 people died and about 3,400 were wounded.
