INEC Says CVR Only For Anambra Governorship Election, Not For Bye-Election

INEC Says CVR Only For Anambra Governorship Election, Not For Bye-Election

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has clarified that the upcoming Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise in Anambra, is solely for the November 8th governorship election.

The Resident Electoral Commissioner in the state, Elizabeth Agwu, said this to newsmen in Awka, stating that the CVR will not be used for the Senate and House of Assembly bye-elections scheduled to hold on August 16th and instead voters would use their existing Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs).

She says that the CVR for the governorship election will begin on July 8th and end on July 17th and will run from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m, from Tuesdays to Saturdays while a separate nationwide CVR exercise will commence immediately after the bye-elections to prepare for the 2027 general elections.

She is now calling on eligible voters in the state to turn out and either register afresh or update their biodata as needed.
