The Police Command in Imo state has commenced an investigation into the assault of a 55-year-old woman, Ndidiamaka Agu, by a group of men at Emekuku near Imo state capital, Owerri.
The command’s spokesman, Henry Okoye, announced the investigation this Tuesday saying the assault was allegedly carried out on Agu because she cooperated with police officers in an investigation.
He explained that the state Commissioner of Police, Aboki Danjuma, ordered the probe following a viral video showing the men assaulting the victim.
Reports say the viral video captured policemen assaulting a man, as they seized his phone, and drove off with his car in the Surulere area of Lagos State.
The CP, Danjuma, strongly condemned the act and described it as barbaric, inhuman, and totally unacceptable. He urged his officers to identify, arrest, and bring all individuals involved in the assault of the man and the woman cooperating with the police, to justice without delay.
