The International Court of Justice (ICJ) has begun its second day of hearings into Israel’s humanitarian obligations to Palestinians.
A member of the governing council at a human rights organization, Law for Palestine, Anisha Patel, has commented on the hearing saying that while state representatives address the court in The Hague, Israel is still inflicting in Gaza conditions that can lead to the destruction of the Palestinian people.
Patel also described Israel’s repeated attacks on the UN as part of efforts to weaponize humanitarian aid which she says are a violation of Israel’s obligations as a member of the UN and its obligations under the UN Charter.
The ICJ is currently holding hearings on Israel’s obligations under international law concerning the presence and activities of the United Nations and other international organizations in the occupied Palestinian territory, as well as the role of third states.
