Human rights lawyer, Inibehe Effiong, has revealed that over N10 million was raised in just four days for Quadri Alabi, the young boy who was photographed standing in front of Peter Obis’ convoy during the 2023 presidential elections campaign.
Effiong said this during a television interview this Monday alleging that the police falsely claimed Alabi was 18 years old to prosecute him in court, even though he is only 17.
Recall that Alabi was arrested and charged in connection with a violent street fight in the Amukoko area of Lagos earlier this year. However, Magistrate Adetola Olorunfemi later freed him following legal advice from the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP), Babajide Martins.
Effiong commended what he described as the strength of the Nigerian spirit and said the goal is to relocate Quadri from Amukoko and to secure a source of income for his mother, who is a petty trader.
