Hisbah arrests man hiding in bag at married woman’s house in Kebbi

Officers of an agency under the Kebbi State Ministry of Religious Affairs, known as the Hisbah Board, have arrested a man allegedly found hiding inside a “Ghana Must-Go” bag at the residence of a married woman in the Badariya area of Birnin Kebbi.

The Director of Sharia at the board, Sirajo Kamba, confirmed the arrest to newsmen this Tuesday in Birnin Kebbi.

Kamba said residents of the area alerted Hisbah on Monday, May 18, after noticing a man entering the woman’s house, which led the Kebbi Hisbah Board to the scene to investigate.

They were initially denied access into the house by the woman who denied the presence of anyone in the house, but later obliged and allowed a thorough search, leading to the discovery of the suspect inside a “Ghana Must-Go” bag.

Kamba said that upon interrogation, both suspects admitted to the allegation of engaging in a romantic relationship, and that they would be arraigned in court to face legal proceedings under Islamic law.
