High Court Adjourns Female Officer Murder Case to December 4

A Federal High Court sitting in Port Harcourt has adjourned the murder case involving 12 suspects who are accused of killing a female Inspector, Christiana Erekere, at a Police Checkpoint in Rivers State.

 

The trial judge, Justice Augusta Chukwu adjourned the matter to 4th December 2024 for continuation of hearing after the counsel to the 1st and 3rd defendants, Sunny Nwokoro cross-examined one of the witnesses, who identified himself as Harrison Emmanuel; a Police Officer from the Bori Division.

 

During the cross-examination, Emmanuel alleged that the suspects assaulted the late Christiana with sticks and blocks, after which she died on the way to the hospital.

 

The deceased, Christiana Erekere was among a team of police officers conducting a stop and search when, the suspects, who were travelling from Delta State to Akwa Ibom State for a wedding programme on April 25, 2024  allegedly beat her to death at her duty post in Taabaa Police Station in Khana Local Government Area of Rivers state.
