Ogun State Governor, Dapo Abiodun, has announced a ₦50 million cash gift to the Super Falcons ahead of the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against the Benin Republic in Abeokuta.
Abiodun made the announcement while receiving the team at the Government House, Oke-Mosan, on Monday, praising the Falcons for their outstanding performances and describing them as symbols of leadership, teamwork, and discipline.
He said the team’s return to the MKO Abiola International Stadium was proof of the state’s growing investment in sports. The governor also revealed plans to transform the stadium into a world-class sports and tourism hub with facilities like a five-star hotel, cinema, and shopping complex.
The Super Falcons, who hold a 2–0 advantage from the first leg in Cotonou, will face the Benin Amazons this Tuesday in Abeokuta. Head coach Justin Madugu has assured fans the team will go all out to secure qualification for next year’s WAFCON in Morocco.
