Former Minister of Sports Solomon Dalung has countered claims by former Super Eagles captain Mikel Obi that he personally paid for the Nigerian football team’s travel from Atlanta to Rio de Janeiro for the 2016 Olympic Games
Mikel says that the Nigerian Football Federation (NFF) failed to provide necessary logistics, compelling him to intervene financially.
However, Dalung, dismissed the claim saying that no player paid for any chartered aircraft to transport the team.
He says that although the team did experience a delay in Atlanta due to logistical setbacks, the Ministry of Sports responded by chartering a 35-seat aircraft to transport the squad to Brazil.
