Nigerian female U-17 footballer, Taiwo Afolabi has been named Player of the Match following the Nigerian teams’ victory over New Zealand on Wednesday night.
The Nigerian U-17 team, the Flamingos, defeated New Zealand, 4-1 at the opening game of the 2024 FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup on Wednesday.
Afolabi scored Nigeria’s fourth goal of the match at the 55th minute, after Shakirat Moshood, Khadijat Adegoke and Faridat Abdulwahab scored the first three goals of the match
The Flamingos now occupy a top spot in the group with three points from one game.
The Flamingos will face Ecuador in their next game on Saturday.
