A fire outbreak has destroyed properties and goods worth millions of naira at the Alaba Rago Market in the Ojo area of Lagos State.
The Permanent Secretary of the Lagos State Emergency Management Authority (LASEMA), Femi Oke-Osayintolu, told newsmen this Wednesday that the fire started around midnight.
Oke-Osayintolu says the LASEMA team quickly went to the market following a distress call and found some makeshift shops already on fire when they arrived at the scene.
The Director of the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service, Margaret Adeseye says her team worked with LASEMA and other fire services to bring under control, preventing it from spreading to other properties.
The cause of the fire is still unknown.
