FG Approves ₦10bn Housing Loan, Boosts Allowances for Civil Servants

The Federal Government has approved a 10 billion housing loan scheme, increase in peculiar allowances and other welfare benefits, in a move aimed at improving access to home ownership and take-home pay for civil servants.

‎ The Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, Didi Walson-Jack, said to newsmen this Friday that  the housing initiative would be implemented through the Federal Mortgage Bank of Nigeria and the Federal Government Staff Housing Loans Board, while the review of allowances affects workers under both the Consolidated Public Service Salary Structure (CONPSS) and the Consolidated Research and Allied Institutions Salary Structure (CONRAISS) in all cadres.

‎She says the billion housing loan is designed to enhance stability and productivity within the civil service by enabling workers to own homes, while review of allowances will ensure g dignity in retirement, stressing that no public servant should leave service without adequate financial support.

She also highlighted ongoing efforts to modernise the public service, including a transition toward a more digital and efficient system aimed at improving the capacity and welfare of civil servants across the country.
