The Enugu State Police Command has arrested three men suspected of vandalising high-voltage power cables in the Aninri Local Government Area of that state.
The arrest was confirmed this Friday by the state Police Public Relations Officer, Daniel Ndukwe.
Ndukwe identified the suspects as Chukwu Kelvin aged 25, Kenechukwu Ude, aged 25, and Uche Nwankwo aged 28.
He says they were intercepted by the command’s Distress Response Squad (DRS) during a routine stop-and-search duty along Enugu/Port-Harcourt Expressway, Enugu state.
Ndukwe says the suspects were found transporting lengths of vandalised aluminium cable concealed under cassava leaves, a large cable cutter, two pairs of rubber gloves, and a bag containing clothes in a white minibus.
The suspects will be arraigned in court upon conclusion of the investigation.
